Life Changing RPGs

I've mentioned Xenogears a lot in this forum, because it changed my entire perspective on religion. I've played games before where the story questions God. Like Breath of Fire 2, and the unusual Evil vs Good concept in Grandia 2, but none quite like Xenogears.

Has anyone else played a rpg that changed part of their outlook on life or religion?

Well it was Xenogears for me too. It actually made me look at things from a different perspective. I remember thinking.."you know that COULD happen..." I was either 15 or 16 when I first played it.

Hmmm....not really...

I've played some that resonated w/ me in ways though. Like SO2, i could sympathize w/ Claude in how he is his own person, and not just his father's son. Especially during the scene in Eluria Tower where he chooses his friends over his father, and his old life.

Xenogears was a good game..but it did nothing like that for me =/

the only things i've ever got out of RPGs is like FF..and thats only that i wish some of the stuff in FF would happen lol

Not many games actually impacted my outlook a whole lot.

BoF2 would get the vote for the most impact on me though.

I was just thinking.... .hack was interesting, because it WAS all a game...lol. I'd often look at a situation in it, and see it as just a regular RPG, but then I remembered its a game within a game...which makes you really wonder about some of the people's motives for helping you out, especially considering the danger..

Old school D&D taught me about ppls reactions and how to judge the reactions before I act. In having to Role-play my character practically every situation imaginable, I've learned how too get the best of a situation. Just sometimes it doesn't work like I expected.

Earthbound is another somewhat changing RPG for me. Without it my warped humor might not be quite as warped as it is now. :D :chuckle
