Comic Adaptions to Film. Yes? No?

Seeing as how its a granted that the movie doesnt follow the comic to the T, and while this may be a good or bad thing is open to interpretation. But say wit X-Men 2 there were 2 key moments that just ruind it for me.

Moment 1: Introduction of Lady Deathstrike

Lady Deathstrike and upon meeting in the comics have a romantic past linking back to him training in Japan. She gets feusd with somehting from an alien spaceship and he is forced to fight her as Lady Deathstrike. Now why wasnt there any linking in the movie? Surely Logan even though his memory is screwed wont forget the love of his life and sure she wouldnt forget him. Every time they clash in the comics theyre hesitant because of their history. They ruined that purely in the movie.

Moment 2: Phoenix revived??

Ok The phoenix long story short is a protector of a crystal in the Shi'ar empire of which Prof X gets more then lovey dovey with the Empress. Scott meets his father as a leader of the space pirates and the X-Men have to leave the Empire via the blackbird. Now Jean shields ship with the crystal because i think they were going to destroy it in the sun before it cause cataclysmic results. Upon doing so they feared her dead but on the sun the watchers saw a phoenix shaped flame.

She returned alll confused, became manipulated by the inner circle and became their red queen, ousting the white queen Emma Frost (who later joins the X-Men yellow team i think)Now that basically throws the story of Scotts heritage out the window, and with that the space pirates, shi'ar and other links which made up a big chunk of the storyline regarding Scott Summers.

Also the Hulk with his origin:

'Dr.Bruce banner belted by gamma rays turned into the hulk'
No wi have an old cardboard cut out animation of the Hulk and it clearly shows him being a tester for the military, a moron in a jeep out in the testing zone and him being belted by the test as the kid fled. What happened in the movie? Apparatus to bombard participants in a controlled area with restraints.


Now based on those three examples and more if you have them of course do you think it is right to just select bits and pieces and change the storyline for a movie adaption?

yeah, that was a definate eyebrow raising moment when I saw X2. I didn't expect them to put the Phoenix into the line up... at least not that soon. Especially since there are so many other villains and plots to work with. Don't forget the stuff with Cable and Bishop (I believe they were involved with the phoenix saga at some point). One of the thoughts I had was the Age of Apocalypse. I think the return of the phoenix happened during part of that, because I remember Apocalypse wanting the Phoenix (either as one of his horsemen or to assimilate her power).
