Speaking with GameDaily BIZ, Sega's Scott Steinberg confirmed plans to contribute two titles, Sonic the Hedgehog and Full Auto 2: Battlelines, to the PlayStation 3 launch lineup -- Virtua Fighter 5 will follow next March. Neither game gives Sony an advantage at launch, since Sonic has already been confirmed for Xbox 360 and Steinberg couldn't deny that the Full Auto sequel is also destined for Microsoft's platform. By contrast, come next spring, Virtua Fighter 5 will give us a reason to invest in PS3.
It's easy to see how the Virtua Fighter delay works in Sony's favor. PS3 will sell out at launch no matter what software is available. But 4–6 months down the line, when the diehards have already cashed in, Sony will be banking on exclusives to keep units flying off the shelves.

Sonic Confirmed for PS3 Launch (http://ps3.ign.com/articles/716/716632p1.html)
The titular hedgehog will be ready for Sony's new machine by November.

July 6, 2006 - That hurried hedgehog will be rushing headlong into Sony's next-gen PlayStation 3 in his next adventure, respectfully called Sonic the Hedgehog (http://ps3.ign.com/objects/770/770960.html).
Sonic celebrates his 15th birthday this year and the title is an homage to his origins on the late, great SEGA Genesis. The fleet-footed furry's new adventure will join another SEGA title, Full Auto 2: Battlelines, on PS3's launch day November 17, 2006.
If you're not quite ready to commit to Sony's rather pricey next-gen game box, but already dropped coin on Microsoft's, you're in luck: the Xbox 360 version of Sonic the Hedgehog will be available the same day. There has been no announcement as to whether or not the PS3 version will take advantage of the motion sensitive controller; thus far, both versions are identical.
We were treated to first looks (http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/711/711418p1.html) of Sonic in his new adventures at this past E3. This incarnation of the frantic blue insectivore focuses on the impact of his speed and sense of control from Sonic's early Genesis days, and the wild aerial jumps introduced in Sonic Adventures. A representative for Sonic assured us that the team at SEGA has made lots of improvements from what we saw at E3 and that they have more surprises in store.
