Well, you could try eliminating your unnecessary startup programs, if you haven't done that already.
Can you give us the info on your case? Or at least the name of the model?

A dell dimension 2400. Its kind of outdated alreayd..but its all we could afford at the time. And we never got anything new after that.

I can't even find out the details on your chipset. If I could find it, I could find out how much RAM your computer could handle. Another idea I have is for you to download a program called BelArc, that analyzes your computer hardware. It can tell you if you have any RAM slots.
Do you know if you maxed out the RAM on your computer?

I don't think I should have. I did recetnyl just put in htat meory chip...so wouldn't that give me more free ram?

Depends on how many programs you run at once. Do you have any information on the chipset you have in your computer?

I try it when I don't have any programs running and I still get the same message. You mean the memorychip I just put in? Its a kingston.
Heh, I found out about the comp.
It has 256MB RAM (since it hasn't been upgraded) and can hold up to two 512MB modules.
So, I think RAM isn't the problem here. I think your comp is just full of crap. Almost literally speaking. I suggest you do a full virus check and launch your ad removals and spybot removals too.

I already do full system scans everyday. Mothers orders whenever I use the PC. And how can it be full of crap. DriveC still has 27 GB of data left on it.

First of all, this could be something simple as an OS error. However, since Dell is an asshole company, I would imagine that the mobo cannot support effcient amounts of RAM. I have two questions. First, does your OS recognize 1.65GB of RAM or are you assuming that is the correct amount because that is how much you've actually put into it? Secondly, does the pop up message say just that or is it something with a bit more detail?
Also, you might want to try to look at your processes page (ctrl + alt + del --> Processes: click the mem usage tab) and see if any programs are using abnormally hight amounts of RAM. (i.e. anything over 250,000kb is way, way too high.)
I've had a simillar problem with running Photoshop on my computer. I had 512mb of RAM when I initially installed the program and of course it didn't work. I installed 1GB more on a later date, tried to open the said program up, and it didn't run. I completely uninstalled the program, reinstalled and then it worked fine.
Try uninstalling the program, and then boot into safe mode, install it there and see if it still won't run. If it cannot run in safe mode, then I don't know what to do.
Also, deleting all the start up processes won't really fix anything. Most firewalls and antivirus utilities don't even take up but 2MB at most which is most likely not the problem. I wouldn't disable those for anything anyways, and most anything else won't use half of that. Disableing the start up processes can, however, speed up boot times. I would reccomend doing that but be careful not to disable antivirus and drivers....

WEll when going into control panel, performance and what not. It says 1.65 GB of ram.
And the message itself is exactly as I haev put it in that quote on the first post.

Usuualy the only thing if I was to be doing anything is system idle process which is a normal thing. And thats only 16k each one. So there shoul dbe no problem there.

But the problem is 1.65 is way enough to run this program. I use this program on a system that is over 10 years old and that has enough ram for it. if that has enough for it...then why not this PC. And I alrady tried uninstall and reinstall a many times.

As said above. A many times.

Geek Squad! I'm all out of ideas. Well, Dell might have security on the case, so that it won't accept any foreign hardware. Not positive, though. I never owned a Dell before. I know HP does, and I had to do it to my case, when I installed my new video card.

But the thign is before i put in this new memory chip...photodeluxe worked fine on it...and now it doesn't...there has to be a logical explnation for it.

You broke your computer when you got pissed off at Dawn of War and kicked it. Shouldn't have done that.

Yeah, about that last part, I said boot to safe mode. Meaning go Start > Run > msconfig > BOOT.INI > check the /SAFEBOOT option....it will prompt you to restart the comp. Do so, and then log on to the Administrator account listed, (try) to install the program and if it doesn't run, I'm outta ideas.

or just restart and mash the F8 keyi believe to bring up the booting options on any windows OS and select boot to safe mode(much easier iof youre running a duakl boot as youhave 30 seconds to press it), itd also be wise to see if the bios have the same RAM amount that windows is showing.
Theres also the memory usage on task manager, so a test that could be run is open task manager go to performance note down the values for free memory space in the Physical Memory then running the prog and seeing if it alters the value by any great margin.
Your error message, is a fucking joke 'Warning: Program cannot Run [Retry]' and the like give you sweet fuck all as to what the actual cause of the error is, ring dell up and abuse the fuck out of their tech support just for that error alone.

I thought the ctrl key would do that? By the boot thing, you mean the black screenthat says like
1) normal boot
2) safe boot
3) stuffs
......
5) more stuffs
...?
Yeah I concur with that last part. That message is kinda retarded...Might I ask if this is a legit copy of the program, and you haven't used a crack?

Oh well, either way, he now has two options. :D
Safe mode should garuntee that no maliciouls programs are launched right? It is supposed to only launch the OS dependant files right....so that would mean minimal RAM usage and greater OS stability....?

Dont think so, Safe Mode is kinda like the OS without the restrictions of the OS, im pretty sure it wouldnt be completely free of malicious crap.
Though it would use less ram yes since its only running the basic applications needed to run the os and not the extra shit.
