I have no idea if anyone here can help me, but I figured I'd ask anyway.
I'm attempting to play some old DOS games via DosBOX. More specifically, a frontend of DosBOX called D-Fend. Well anyway, I'm possitive I've set everything up and configured everything correctly. However, once I try to start up the game I want to play, a dos window pops up for a split second, and then immidiately disappears. Nothing else happens after that. The game doesn't load, I don't get any sort of error message; nothing.
I was wondering.. would anyone here happen to know what the problem is, and how I could go about fixing it? A friend of mine tried the exact same thing on their and, and according to that friend, it worked perfectly for them. I haven't a clue what the problem could be for me, but it's getting rather frusterating.

Type "deltree" and it will fix everything. :D
Actully, it sounds like your missing part of a ".bat" file. Try reloading the executible file again.

Typing "deltree" in the command prompt did nothing. It says such a command doesn't exsist. I've also uninstalled and reinstalled all this several times, but it still hasn't worked

I'm fairly certain he was joking, though I have no idea where the joke came from or why it's funny. o.o;

Well, still. Reloading the executable doesn't do anything, either

Typing deltree will delete several parts of your hardisk. The reason it didnt is because you didnt complete the path as to which files to delete. :D Thats why its funny.
Anyways, was it in a zip file? Maybe a few more files all have to be opened for it all to connect and execute.

Nope, it wasn't in a zip file. And I'm running it through a frontend, so it's all excecuted through that program, anyway. Still, like I said. I've done everything correctly (I followed the instructions to the letter) yet I'm having the problem I mentioned in my initial post. My friend, who did the exact same thing, had gotten it to work

irrelevant unless youre both running the same system specs.

would it have been funny if she actually did delete those parts unknowingly because you thought it would be humurous to watch her reaction? This is computer help not play bad jokes on the one with the problem.

D-Fend site claims its unassoiciated with dosbox and only a tool to use it (i assume in the gui under them cmd prompt to access the dos level) which owuld leave me to believe that both dosbox and dfend would need some form of tweaking, not one or the other.
only trhing i couldn find regarding issues as such was for dosbox, so heres the link incase you want to look at it.

That helped, thank you. It turns out that I had to mount the game image I wished to play within the frontend. I had to sort through several different configuration pages before the "Mount Game Image" option even became available. Definately more trouble than it's worth considering how mish-mashed the frontend layout is. Still, at least now I've gotten it to work. Thank you very much for all your help.

This is computer help not play bad jokes on the one with the problem.
I concur. Not giving him the complete path did not hurt a thing, but to computer people, it could seem humorous. I also did try to help ya know.
