In these days of terror threats you have to take everything seriously--the San Antonio Fire Department was called out today to investigate a report of exploding toilet paper.
District Fire Chief Randy Jenkins says a man was pulling on a roll of toilet paper in the bathroom of his northwest side home this morning when the roll suddenly flew apart.
"He carefully put the roll into a 'Glad' bag, and then put that into a trash bag, and took it to the fire station," Jenkins told 1200 WOAI news.
Firefighters at the station at Interstate 10 and Vance Jackson kept the suspicious t.p. outside while they called arson investigators and the bomb squad.
"They determined it was a manufacturer's defect," Jenkins said. "The paper just came off the roll for some reason. There was no evidence of explosives in the toilet paper." Jenkins says now, firefighters at the station have to decide what to do with half a roll of toilet paper.
