Three men dressed in camouflage clothing have been arrested for planning to burglarize a camera store and then use a bomb or fire to cover their tracks, authorities said. An attentive deputy with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office spotted one suspect at 1 a.m. Thursday sitting in a car in an empty parking lot, said Lt. Tim Moore, a sheriff's office spokesman.

Alarmed because of the odd hour, the deputy checked on the driver and found him dressed in camouflage and armed with a gun.

More deputies arrived, the car was searched, and deputies found evidence that led them to believe the suspect was planning to steal camera equipment.

Deputies checked nearby Mike's Camera store, 9197 E. Westview Road, and climbed a roof-access ladder attached to the store.

On the roof, deputies found two more suspects dressed in camouflage. One was also armed, Moore said.

Two Elizabeth men, Greggory Laverne Davis, 24, and Anthony Howard Smith, 23, and Matthew Alan Thirsk, 21, of Westminster were arrested for attempted burglary and conspiracy.

Davis and Thirsk were also charged with unlawfully carrying concealed weapons.

Further investigation discovered the trio "planned to cover up any evidence as a result of the burglary by using an incendiary or explosive device," Moore said.

On the night the suspects were arrested, they were on a "test run," Moore said.

No incendiary devices or bombs were found.

Each suspect is being held at the Douglas County Jail on a $100,000 bail.
