alot of diluded wiccans believe that outer beauty is a direct reflection on inner beauty. despite being pagan and having wiccan beliefs mixed with my overall spirituality i think that this is ridiculous. i know physically beautiful ppl that are arrogant, shallow, and cruel and more plain looking individuals that are kindhearted, creative, and inspiring. so what do you all think? is appearance a direct reflection on the soul?

i dont think so..well maybe in some cases it can cus most of the pritty people i know are stuck up lol . and some of the not so pritty ppl i know have no self confadence and are easy to get along with, but i wouldent really say that you can look at outer beauty to see what a person is like on the inside ..you can kind more out about a person by looking at how thay carry there self or by asking where there from

i dont think so at all, like you've both said in your own ways, there are some pritty people out there that are just asses...and some not as pritty people that are nice as hell, its nothing about looks that makes you what you are on the inside, its about what you've gone through, and how you took what you went through...

please don't be so ignorant to choose words that may insinuate that all wiccans do that. Maybe it isn't a literal meaning, and until you can show me where it says that or how you came to find that, don't make us discuss your assumptions of a possible misinterpretation.
also, it's your interpretation of that person. Outer beauty is yet to be defined to me. Some girls can be too skinny and some girls look good even if they would be considered a "fatty".
Are you saying that if someone has a beautiful inside it will reflect to the outside. Or if they are kind and sincere they will radiate it with their body like a smile or beaming eyes.

No. Take Fairy for example. He's cold and wicked, but he's probably a hot stud.
Well, it's not a great example, so use your imagination.
I think it does not reflect whats on the inside.. Most of the time if they are "all that" then they know it and develop an ego from hell... and as far as personality goes, they are hideous inside and out

well fairy for one i did not say all...i said "alot" of wiccans as in those in my area. i also know deep caring wiccans that judge ppl for who they are on the inside. i was merely talking about a certian group of arrogant self proclaimed elitists wiccans i know. my gf is wiccan actually and my roomie alex grew up on a pagan commune. granted i'm not nearly as knowledgable as either of them (they both teach me new things everyday) but i've been to enough gatherings to know how ppl are judged and how things are run. now, for the record i'm not saying all wiccan covens are full of themselves....but for the most part when a coven gets large and starts trying to put on a dog and pony show they become an "organization" instead of a spiritual group thus they lose much of what being "true" is all about. i guess i just have a beef with organized religion even if it is my own. as for how they believe its simple deduction. the "beautiful ppl wiccans" hold the seats of power while the "others" get left out in the cold.(once again remember i'm talking about one coven, not all covens) it takes more than looks and boulderdash skills to make a good person of any faith. you got to walk the walk not just talk the talk. in general solitary wiccans are alot more wiser and modest. at least that has been my general hands on experience. keep in mind this is my opinion. everyone sees things differently that's just the way it is.

I dont think that outer beauty is a direct reflection of the soul. Someone couldbe beatiful, yet wicked, or they could be ugly, yet be pure. And, by the same token, someone could be beautiful and pure, or ugly and wicked.
They are two completpy seperate things.

i agree lades. people come in all varities and to judge then by their physique is not a good tactic for getting to know them. for example one might think just because a girl is gorgeous she's stuck up..this is not always the case. other people might be akward around someone who has a physical defect yet that person could be a saint and the nicest guy in the world. likewise the opposites of these variations can be true. it's because of this i don't place too much value on race or appearance...unless of course the person in question reeks of body odor and alcohol and bums me for money while saying it's his birthday though he said the very same thing 3 days before. lol.

In no way possible, take me for example, mohawk, mustache and goatee colored purple, basically a punk, husband, father of three, and foreman at work. The old saying "Don't judge a book by it's cover" holds true, get to know the person, not the apperance.

A beautiful person doesn't mean that they are beautiful inside.. Just because some one is beautiful doesn't mean they are a great person. It just means they are good to look at. Also, beauty means something different to everyone.. so being beautiful is a matter of opinion in the first place. So, I would have to say that those Wiccans are not true and they are following something false.

No I don't think it's a reflection of the soul. I know some people who are pretty to look at but have the most hideous personality. It's funny that some people rely so heavily on their looks to get through life because they don't last forever....everyone falls victim to the passing of time.

it's good to know that most of you know how to judge individuals for who they are and what they do not what they look like. in my opinion that is a good sign that there are actually people with depth out there.

Not at first glance, it's not about the person it's about your view of the person. I lnow a lot of people who at first I think "Wow, bubba bubba" and then I talk to them and they go from a 10 on the scale to a 5 in a matter of minutes. Then someone who I may classify as more of a 4 can quickly become a 9 when I see that they're a great person. ^_^ Don't tell me this never happened to you!

I don't think so. It doesn't work for me.
I've known so many people through my school life. I've looked at girls that seemed so scary. They looked like the "I'm pretty and you're not!" But after getting to know them...I've often found out that they're funny, talented and wonderful people.
I really don't think that what someone looks like comes into what type of person they are.

I know some girls that look beautiful, but I hate them.
They are horribly rude to everyone...
So no...Outer Beauty does not reflect any inner beauty -_-

Yep. Although (to somewhat elaborate on my earlier post) what someone looks like affects how they'll likely be treated in society, and thus can indirectly affect their personality (an ugly but inherently kind person who is teased, abused, etc for their looks may grow jaded and cruel as a result, even if initially they were innocent and kind). But that's a product of society's actions, not the looks themselves, so the answer is still no.

It's corny but...you should never judge a book by it's cover.

Outer beauty...no
But I believe that outward appearance has a link towards inner appearance.
Inner appearance tends to come out in more than simple looks but more in facial expression, subtle ways of...say, the way someone looks at things, speaks to people, laughs, and reacts to things...
A picture can tell a lot to someone looking for the right things..., and may even suprise the person in the picture themselves...
But.., one can never be sure simply by looks, as with most things - some people sometimes just seem a certain way...

NO way in hell. A person can be butt ugly and be the best nicest person on the inside. Most beautiful people on the ouside are the worst most despicable peopel on the inside.

That's a horrible generalization,
which I don't believe true at all....
But what I believe is that good people - regardless of good appearances or not - tend to show a certain look.
There's times of course when people give a good look and are quite evil, and when the hardiest lookingn are quite nice...,
but I believe that look exists...

Indeed, I don't think you can really say the majority of pretty people are assholes and ugly people are sweet.
I honestly tend to find more nice people to be pretty than pricks.
Though I would only say its true about 60% of the time with each of those.

To be completely honest, I find most people to be freaking assholes regardless of appearance. That's humanity for ya.
