are you a defensive, offensive, or reactive type player. I'm mainly an offensive player that uses a bunch of juggles. I also play reactively sometimes, using a lot of counters, parries (when applicable), and evasion.

I am definitely offensive. I have evolved out of my button mashing fighting style.
it's good that you're doing that. you can only get so far button mashing, and it doesn't work very well against people that know what they're doing.

I have also learned that there is a defend button to block the opponent, amazing.
lolol... yeah, that helps a little.

defensive.
i always go by the best offence is a good defence and was proven in sf v msh (for those who dont know streetfighter v marvel superheroes) where Chun Li's move the kikou shou is a full energy ball which encompasses herself making her immune from damage. Button mashers always misjudge the defensive capabilities of characters, and i well piunish them with the solid defence.

good defenses are great, but in games like SvMsh and MvC2 is there is Chip damage (damage taken while blocking). except for Ice Man anyway...... I know several "keep away" type characters that will stand all the way across the screen just using projecticle attacks over and over hoping they'll eventually kill whoever they're fighting.

Neither! When I try to be defensive, I hit the wrong buttons, and do it at the wrong time....and the enemy always finds a way to get through the defence when I actually DO pull it off. When I try offensive.....I wont' talk about that....^^;;;;;

actually projectiles have a cool down period in which you can either run, jump or execute your own projectile to counter it. The exception is characters like Liu Kang who can fireball in the air, up high and down low.
LOL Trance, i gather you dont play these games much then

My bro was playing this....fighter game thingy that has alot of the Teri and other people (did I say his name right??) I am still in the Button Masing phase...but I recently took the time to learn all of Yoshmitsu's SCII attacks. It's a start, I guess.

button mashin all the way
ChibiArisu

Yeah, that's how I started learning how to press buttons really fast, and pull off some hard max attacks.. But in the process of pressing buttons, I couldn't block.

and, like I've said before. button mashing will only get you so far. it's better to not do that and actually learn the game if you want to develop your skills and get a good original technique.
I Know Offensive, Defensive, And No Reactive.... But I Just Button Mash Whgen I'm In Trouble....

I sit in the corner playing defensive most of the time, but if I can't get to a nice, safe corner, I just get in my opponent's face and combo him/her/it to death. And Kellypoo, most fighting games DO have a practicve mode where the CPU will just stand there and let you pound it to dust all day...

I'm very much a defensive player. Usually I'll wait for my opponent to attack, and then counter whatever they do. I also like to use charge characters and reversal moves...
Oh, yeah, I can't stand button-mashers... *giggles*
Zelphiel

do you always use that hard to read pink font......
anyway, I don't think anyone likes button mashers... especially button mashers that think they're good. It is very satisfying to put them in their place.

I used to be a button masher but now I can actually fight. I'm not going to say I'm the best(far from it) but I find that I'm better now that I actually pay attention to what I doing
(I'm still spastic though...LOL)

Hmm... I'll start experimenting with other colors, sorry if the other one was hard to read... how's the one I'm using now?
It's Good.... I Rarely Button Mash. I Only Do So When I Get Angry....

heh i throw the controller at the person beating me, distracting their movements long enough for me to kick em in the shins and run off ^_^

.....yeah, but you still loose the fight. lol

Hey, when things get REALLY bad, I just have to hit the Reset button before it says Winner...then it doesn't count!
Heh! That's A Good Tactic. I Used It Quite A Few Times.

.....yeah, but you still loose the fight. lol
oh believe it or not majority of times they drop the controller an run allowing you to cheeze your way to victory.

im kinda reactive. I defend and evade (or try) until they leave themself open to attack. Then i beat the **** outta them quick and go back to my original defend/evade. My friends say its a boring tactic but well i beat them anyway. And i always use the harder to use characters, not the easy ones like the dude in SC2... arrgh he has a short blade and hes like Hwang from the original.. i forgety his name. Hes too easy to use and makes it boring.

*giggle* You could always hit your opponent's taunt button and then pull off a combo on them... But be ready to run, because they won't be happy with you...
I actually did this once, BTW... I paid for the guy's next game, though. But it was pretty funny...
I LOVE Doin' That^^ I Always Lose Afterwards For Some Reason Though....O_o?

cuz you suck? Haha im borrowing SC2, and im kickin some ass with Taki, my favourite character.
Zelphiel
02-06-2004, 01:47 AM
cool. I've always really liked Taki. I've been using her since Soul Edge. I especially like her possession chains in SC2.
Ricdeau
02-09-2004, 03:27 PM
my friend took SC2 back :( oh well. Taki has a lot of good moves tht are easy to pull off, and she also has starts for more moves, like possession and wind roll. You can do some really impressive moves with just a few buttons with Taki.

I like doing her 4, 4, b, K move into possession....
...I think it's 4. I can't ever remember where to start with those damn numbers.

*update...
I'm working on learning her possession cancels (whatever they're called).

I am pretty offensive, cause you know the saying: "The best defense is a good offense." What? It's the other way around? I don't care! Beat the guy down before he can beat you down!
Every once in a while, I will see that offensive isn't winning the battle, in which time, I immediately switch to defensive and can usually salvage a win from that.

In the end it really just depends on how your opponent plays.
I dunno if I posted here before but things have changed.
I'm mostly an offensive player, but I'm good in other departments too. The main thing I wanna try to work on is reacting to my oponents moves.

defensive for me
idk if I have posted here before or not... but I cant be bothered to look now, but as of now I have been playing defensive and still getting my ass kicked lol

I never block. At all.
And I still kick ass.

I was never very good at fighting games.I just run at my enemy and hit buttons mostly.Although i was pretty good at soulblade and my brother taught me some combos for killer instinct so i was good at that too.Offensive is what I mainly was.
