I saw that on either the history or discovery channel once. I think it's cool how electromagnetism is used to fire it.
although... other than a perimeter defense I can't think of any practical use for something that over the top. especially since it fires so fast. but, they can probably control it's rate of fire with the computer it's hooked up to.
horrible

sometimes being an aussie i sit back and wonder.....damn we make some cool shit.
And i dunno im sure in the current design of it it only looks ot be for perimeter defence, though the application could be used to replace most turreted projectile designs.
Theres also a grenade launcher application if you read the comments there was a link posted to cnn
CNN en en NN (http://www.cnn.com/2003/BUSINESS/06/26/australia.metalstorm/)
So its already been adapted for various aspects of defence so really its only a matter fo time before someone takes it a step further and annexs a small nation using it.

hell yeah, one day im gonna declare independence and im gonna need fortifications. That could be one if it plays it's cards right...
thats the problem with the UN, you can't file for membership before you declare independence, who knows how long that paperwork takes to go through the system...
that reminds me somehow of that new rifle theyre developing, i think it's called the M8, anyone heard of it? its another future ownage device.

lol....
*buys one and conquors armenia... >.>
I wonder how expensive the weapon is because of it's rate of fire. A weapon that over the top can't be cheap to operate.

annex luxembourg, i hear europe want to use it as continental parking lot :P
and my guess would be bloody expensive as it has backing equipment and shizznit thats needed, though with the company being involved with the pentagon somehwat that could end up lowering the price if theyre mass produced :P
