Enthusiast PC system manufacturer adds Area-51 m5700 and Area-51 m5500 midrange options to laptop line.

Alienware has announced two new Intel Centrino-based laptops to fill out its Area-51 product line. The new line will give consumers mobile gaming options at lower price points.

The Area-51 m5700 features a 17-inch display and 256MB Nvidia GeForce Go 6800 graphics. The more portable Area-51 m5500 ships with a 15.4-inch display and features Nvidia GeForce Go 6600 graphics. The m5500 also has a unique graphics switch that lets the user toggle between integrated graphics and discrete graphics to maximize battery life.

The systems will feature Intel Pentium M processors and built-in Wi-Fi networking.

Both systems are available for preorder on the Alienware Web site. Area-51 m5700 configurations start at $1,399, and m5500 systems start at $1,049.
