who has it?
I bought it yesterday. So far I'm giving it a 9/10. I know it'll end up being 10/10 later... but I've only had the time to play it for about 7 hours... so examining it in extreme detail hasn't really happened yet. One of the first things I noticed was the speed increase. The game plays slightly faster than it did in SC2 which throws off a lot of the timings on moves and guard impacts. The weapon techniques are also a lot more outlandish than they ever have been. I'm not saying that the series is known for realism or anything... but the 'can't be done in real life' factor was definately increased in this one.
as of now I've beaten it with the following characters. (I'm also adding how much they've changed from how they were in SC2)
-Siegfried
He basically has the Nightmare moveset from SC2. There are maybe half a dozen moves that were replaced with something else and his knight low stance is different. Other than that there isn't much change. He's easy to pick up if you were a Nightmare player in SC2.
-Nightmare
His moveset was drastically changed... which makes sense since most of the old Nightmare moves went to Siegfried. He has maybe 5 or 6 old Nightmare moves and two of his old throws. I like his new moveset a lot. It's a lot more energetic than the old one was. It reminds me a little of how he was in SC1. More like a rampaging monster than anything.
-Taki
Very little change. The first things I noticed (this pissed me off a little, but oh well...) is you can't go into her possession stance from B or BB anymore. Also some of her old possession moves don't work anymore or have been moved outside of the possession stance. She's still pretty much herself which for me is good considering she's the one I usually always place well with in tournaments.
-Mitsurugi
Like Taki, very little change. The Relic stance is either not with him anymore or I couldn't figure out how to do it. His 8 way BBB is different and a lot of the moves done out of his front stance have changed. Despite the changes... as far as I can tell he'll still be top tier like always.
-Ivy
Her moves were changed drastically as well. The transition between sword and whip doesn't happen as quickly in this one. It's kind of like it was in SC1 only more developed. It's kind of hard to explain how some of it works. Most of her whip moves can only be engaged when the sword is in whip form, instead of it being in any form in SC2. It'll force Ivy players to be a lot less cheap... but it hurts Ivy a little because her range game isn't quite as strong.
-Cervantes
He's still the top tier whore you remember. Almost nothing was changed with him. A couple of moves are gone and a few were added. Other than that some moves got minor tweaks. That's about it. He still pwns mad. :D
-Yoshimitsu
He's basically the same as he was in SC2 except he plays more like his Tekken counterpart. He also has a few more Tekken moves in this one. His moveset wasn't changed very much at all. He's still as goofy as he's ever been in SC.
-Voldo
Perhaps the creepiest version of him yet. His stances are a lot more elaborate in this one making his ability to confuse even greater. Most of his moves are the same and they took very little away from him. In turn they didn't add much either. Like I said... the stances are the thing they changed the most. You can do at least 2 or 3 new things out of each of them. The only thing I don't like about him now is you have to get into his low crawl stance to do his blind dive. So there's no more 'while rising > half blind > sweep' :(
-Raphael
Almost exactly the same as he was in SC2. A few moves have been replaced with something new but that's pretty much it. I like the vampire thing he has going on now.
-Tira
She's ok I guess. I don't particularly like playing as characters like her (which was evident in the others because I hardly ever used Maxi or Li-Long). She has a few really good mixups though and her wakeup game is ok.
-Zasalamel
He's like a faster weaker Astaroth. The majority of his moves are performed in the same way except they're either quicker or hit more times. He's a great juggler from what I can tell. Like Tira, I've only beaten the game with him so it's too early to tell.
-Rock
Pretty much the same character everyone remembers from the earlier games. It's who Astaroth was based on (now in the story... but everyone always knew it) so it's natural for the two of them to have similar movesets. Being a decent Astaroth player it was easy to play it with Rock.

also... I've been having fun with the chronicle of the sword mode. I'm up to the 6th stage in that.
I'll keep everyone updated on all the characters as I beat the game with them.
