Smoking Linked to Lower IQ, Diminished Thinking (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,172019,00.html)

Researchers found long-term cigarette smoking was associated with diminished thinking skills as well as lower IQ among a group of alcoholic and nonalcoholic men.

Previous studies have shown that long-term alcoholism dims thinking skills and eventually lowers IQ, and researchers say 50 percent-80 percent of alcoholics are also smokers.

If the findings of this study are confirmed by others, researchers say they suggest that smoking may account for a portion of the mind-numbing effects normally associated with alcoholism.

What I find ironic is that this is coming from Fox news >.>

But what did they expect, "Why don't I burn a bunch of chemicals and inhale it, that'll make me feel better" >.<

False False False.. I know several people who have been smoking for years and have very infuential jobs that require almost the brains of a genius.. One of which is a expert and works for Central Intelligence. This is just another tactic to try to get smokers to quit.

...and what would be wrong with that? It doesnt say that ALL smokers are stupid. It's likely more related to their intelligence before they started smoking... why the hell would you go through a slow painful death just for a few minutes of pleasure?

the key words in that were 'may lead to'.

it wasn't something that proves anything... but it could lead to some interesting research.

My mom smokes and she has a degree in nursing. She's definitely not stupid.

That's definitly not true in all cases, some are stupid just well, because they are stupid, but i know some smokers that are really smart.

im sure it may kill a brain cell here and there but i seriously doubt it makes a dramatic diffrence -_- and i say this as a non smoker too
