What is the hardest RPG you've ever played? For me it would be 7th Saga for SNES. That game is insanely difficult and a real challenge.

The hardest RPG would be... the first one I ever played when I was only seven, Secret of Mana.
I only got up to the bit where the reef thing surfaces but i forgot to save and died against a hydra thing....
I never played it again :sad

yeah. I've tried fighting my way through all the pirates on that map before. It's close to impossible unless you're absurdly leveled up at that point.

I'd have to say ff5 because all the items were insanley over priced and the bosses were just to hard.

For me it was hard. The bosses were rediculasly tough and the stuff was just way overpriced. I mainly always ran out of potions and pheniox downs and ethers and money.

Lunar really wasn't hard Laggy. I only had trouble with two bosses in that game, Truffle Troubler and Ghaleon at the end. They were the only ones that gave me any trouble.

Breath Of Fire, Dragon Quarter. Although I haven't really played it enough to make a sound judgement. I have heard that its hard, maybe that's a factor, the fact that everyone says its hard and I'm going into to it thinking that. But it is the first RPG that I have been kill in right at the beginning. That has never happened to me before. I love challenging games, so I'm making a list from all I see here.

Its hard at first, but then it gets pretty easy, once you learn how to do it.

Suiko2 wasnt very hard to me...
Of course, i used the matilda glitch, but even if i didnt, i doubt it could've been THAT hard.

well at the time i had suikoden 2 i had absolutely no stradegy guide. i'm sure certain battles could have been easier but i proably missed some secret ruins and other things the first time through. as for vandal hearts 2...trust me it's hard as is ff tactics.

SMT: Nocturne is another rpg that ranks among the hardest. It's one of those games that goes from mild to hot and spicy instantly. All of a sudden everything is A LOT stronger than you.

I dunno...The hardest...That's a tough one..I can't really think of anything where the game itself was hard...Not like, hard-hard anyways, I'm sure everyone gets stuck from time to time but the hardest for me would be Ephemeral Fantasia (I so gotta play that game again.) Cos getting all the characters was real difficult, at least in an order so I could get them all...I remember how to get Rummy, Rina and Claire but I always find it annoying to get everyone else, I always seem to forget =/
Rainbow Dash

Dammit, I have now unwillingly discovered that glitch, that don't mean my goal has been ruined though!!! (For those of you who aren't Lades, I'm trying to get all 108 stars without using a strategy guide... until I order Suikoden 3 at least,)
I've said it before... Quest for Glory is the hardest RPG in existence. There are several dozen ways to die, and you have to time everything right or you'll end up having to restart the game. You can actually stand in front of the final boss and it will be an impossible fight because you are missing an item.
QFG2 the time limits are much more strict, but you at least have some cues as to when you are supposed to do things. Unless you play as the Mage in QFG2, you're ridiculously screwed then :chuckle
QFG3 is pretty easy, all you have to do is know where not to go early in the game, and who not to piss off (The villagers = do not anger, the Gods = do whatever you want to them)
QFG4 is only tough as... okay that's another ridiculously hard game, but only because of the Wraiths, Necrohounds, and the endgame. Oh, and the game crashing glitches that make it impossible to beat >.> This is one of the easiest of these games and it still makes FFIV look like Suikoden 1.
QFG5 is a normal game, nothing to tell there. Unless you try to woo the belly dancer. Gotta make alot of enemies to marry her. ESPECIALLY the parrot.
There, the hardest game series in its entirety.

Revelation Persona. In my mind it is one of the most unforgiving shin megami tensei games out there. The prision, high school, and hospital were more like the tower of morador or the maze from labriynth then they were buildings with logical easy to navigate architecture. The enemies were also good at "shanking" you when you least expected it.
