I've been playing Megaman Zero 2 for a while now... And I kinda have a theory about Fefnir and Leviathan's sudden obsession with Zero.
Of course, Fefnir was a battle freak before encountering Zero, but he seems to be a bit more obsessive about fighting Zero specifically during MMZ2. Leviathan wasn't quite so obsessed with fighting in MMZ1, but in MMZ2 she is just as crazy about fighting Zero as Fefnir is. They both pass up chances to stop Elipizo to fight Zero, forgoing their sworn duties to protect X. Compared to Harpuia, they seem to have almost completely abandoned any mission except to fight Zero. Where Harpuia actually attempts to stop Elipizo, and protecting X is the first thing on his mind, Fefnir and Leviathan completely forget about Elipizo, and are focused completely on Zero.
Leviathan even makes a comment that she's "caught Fefnir's disease". I think it's possible (even probable) that Zero still carries with him some form of the original Maverick virus, and Fefnir got infected first, then Leviathan. They may not have completely gone Maverick, but they are abandoning their original missions and only care about fighting Zero.
So, why would Leviathan and Fefnir have been infected, but not Harpuia? Im actually not too sure... It might be because Fefnir's style of fighting is much more close-combat, that he might have had more exposure to Zero. Fefnir might have then passed the virus along to Leviathan... Or maybe Harpuia has something to his build that makes him less vulnerable to the virus.
Actually, it could probably be argued that Elipizo was also infected by the virus, since he was damaged after he attacked Neo Arcadia, and Zero brought him back to base. It would be like an injured person being more susceptable to a biological virus, because it could easily enter the body through an open wound. It was after this that Elipizo "went crazy", so to speak, and became obsessed with gaining the Dark Elf's power. It's kinda similar to Gate when he became infected with the virus. His intentions were good, but he had gone insane, and was being influenced by the virus.
So... whaddya guys think? ^_^
