Hailing from the Middle East, this confection is made from ground SESAME SEED and honey, sometimes with the addition of chopped dried fruit and pistachio nuts. It's available in most supermarkets in wrapped bars, and in Jewish delicatessens in long slabs from which individual slices can be cut.

I came across Halvah as i was browsing around a Trader Joe's (its a chain of more specalized food stores) the other day. Before this, all i knew about Halvah was that it was the cure-all spell on Grandia games, lol. I didnt get any, but i'm gonna next time i go.

So, anyone here ever had Halvah?

it might just be that it sounds interesting... who knows... that stuff sounds good... i think ive had it before... im not sure, though... well, after reading the description... i have had it before... and its not too bad...

I'm still amazed at what other cultures eat...but...i'll have to embrace such things i i ever want to be a truly good chef =/=/=/

mmm... maybe. Ive tried something made from seeds, but sweet. I dont think its the same but it may be. What i had was yellow and came in little bars. My brother really likes them.. could be halvah.

No, no, Halvah looks llike a small brick of black stuff. At least the stuff in the store did. My dad said he's had it before, and that it was meh =/
