The name of this thread says it all. So what do you guys think?

Setzophone

NO... this shouldn't happen... I mean I'd be much happier with an FF8 remake... or better yet FF6 in full 3D... But no, Squankix has to remake the most overrated FF title...

Yay!

If they ARE making a remake. That doesn't make sense...

I'd much prefer a FF6 remake, or even FF4, but if they have to remake one of the more recent FFs, I'm glad its 7. Hopefully they'll be able to iron out some of the flaws in it from before, such as maybe make it so character's stats are much more job-oriented, so Barret has a lot of HP and Def, but low Mag and Spr, and the like, so even if you gave him magic materia it wouldn't be effective.

All in all I'd much prefer this over an FF8 remake. I don't hate the game, but its far from my fav FF, and I hate the junction system with a passion.

the junction system, thats why FF8 is my second favorite game next too FF7. I thought it was awsome, and the storyline, was pure genios IMHO compared to a lot of other FFs. but i'd like to see the remake that'd be cool, of both the games...

Zelphiel

...for the last time all that was is a 'what ff7 would look like with the ps3 graphics'. Square-Enix made the vid when they got the new stuff from Sony to show off what they could do with it. No one anywhere has confirmed anything about that remake happening... and until they do I won't believe it.

personally... I'd rather them do an Advent Children game for the PS3 instead of another FF7. Moving forward with a story is usually always what I prefer.

No, just no. Effort and $ would be much better used to make a true FFT sequel or a FF6 remake.

i caould see how they would and i see how they wouldn't at the same time

I've always wanted to see them do a FFT game of the Lyon War instead of a sequal. by the time the sequal happens Orlandu might be too old to fight, lol.

Ok, a prequel would work too. Anything is fine, just as long as it isn't FFTA2.

Cylest
08-21-2005, 06:49 PM
I second that motion. FFTA sucked so bad. I mean, it wasn't even challenging. I didn't beat it because I lost interest like, not even halfway through the game. I agree though, making a FFT game based off the actual war itself would be pretty cool. Of course, most of the chars from FFT wouldn't be in it, but I would rather play as Orlandu any day over Ramza or Delita. Plus, you would still have Agrias and Gafgarion.

Cylest

yea well...he wasn't called Thunder God Cid for nothing :p. There's a Cid in every ff by the way. Kind of ironic how the coolest character of FFT was named Cid.

But yea, Balbanes, Zalbag and Dycedarg (sp) would most definitely be in it. But I wouldn't get my hopes up though because the people that actually created FFT split up (i'm not sure why), but I just don't think the game would be the same if it is made by different people. I mean, who else other than the original creators would know what all would have gone on during the war? Of course, Square would probably get the "official rights" to the game title and license and make another FFT but royally screw it up just like FFX (i apologize if anyone here liked that game). So far, the original story writers to FFT haven't handed over the license to the game (even though the title has been in Square's possession since the release of the game). I dunno...you guys can obviously decide on which you would like better, but me personally, if the original people aren't the ones that make another FFT, then I don't want another one to be made (and yes I know, that was the best ff out of all the ones not in succession with the rest of the franchise).

no there isn't. Cid is in most of them. :P

hmmm.... which one isnt he in?

Zelphiel
08-23-2005, 12:23 AM
lol... the only one I can think of at the moment (in the mainstream ff series) is FF1.

the only character that's been in every FF game is Bahamut.

Johnson Swags
08-23-2005, 12:26 AM
hmm i didn't know that but now i do lol
and i thought that cid was in every one

Ashe

figured it would be FF1 or FFTA or something stupid like that maybe... FFMQ and i knew bahamut was... hehe

Zelphiel
08-23-2005, 12:31 AM
Cid is in FFTA.

I don't count FFA in the series... and it's been so long since I've played the FFL games I can't remember if he's in them or not.

I dont see a point in a remake, FF7 as is, is great.

and if the PS3 DOES play PS2 and PS1 games, you can could a remake out... or at least I would fuckin hope so.

Cylest
08-23-2005, 12:40 PM
*thinks* darn you Zelphiel...you make me eat my own words. but yea, you're right there's not a cid in the first one. wonder what got this cid fetish started in the first place?

as far as the remake of ff7 goes...i've got mixed emotions. i liked the game, the story line was one of the last that actually made sense (sort of) with the exception of ff9. 10 made sense, but i hate the game with a passion. i concur, a prequel to fft would be better.

Ya kno wat y dont they make a remake of all of the FF series for PS3
wait...plz dont slap me.......plz dont....ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhhhh.............

Cylest

cause they would go broke...course if they don't stop making sequels and prequels and all that other **** into movies they're gonna go broke anyway. i dunno...i think the franchise is dead, or at least i think that square should just let it go. it's lived long enough (20 years in 2007) well...i'm not really sure if the first one came out in japan in 1987, may have been '86...who knows? my point is, it's nearly been going on for two decades. and we all know it (whether we're all willing to admit to it is a different story) but there have been some ffs that just flat out suck. and yes, i know the original wasn't all that great either, but we can't knock that one, cause it was the original...there was nothing anyone could compare it to at the time. but really though, the franchise has done good, and i really think that they should just let it go after 12 (unless of course they plan on making a prequel to fft).

night sk8r
08-23-2005, 12:55 PM
well they should prolly just make it to the 20 year mark and just let every1 enjoy the games cuz theyre prolly runnin out of ideas so they might just get worse and worse as time goes on

Cylest
08-23-2005, 01:00 PM
yep. personally, i think square is even gettin tired of the franchise. really...something going on for almost 20 years...wouldn't you be feeling a little pressured to make damn sure that it's a good game, and a little tired of always having to do so? they'll be fine with their other games, but they need to work on the SaGa games considerably to bring them up to par.

Zelphiel

Guys if you think Final Fantasy is going to run out of material and should quit, then quite honestly there should be no more RPGs. Its not like we've run out of possible storylines. The games aren't related, all they need to do is develop a new story and its a different game.

I hardly think the series is losing quality and I see no reason whatsoever for them to stop making new games. Have you seen how well Final Fantasy still sells?

Rainbow Dash

Is this thread still going? Here we go...

People fighting loyally for the empire
Time travel
a quest for power
Heros awakening an ancient evil
Isolationism based storyline
Multi-planet setting
Sellf-corruption in the hero
A time where the hero betrays the rest of the party
Any game where a feminine girl is the main character (Yuna was a bit of a butch in FFX2)

All of these have not been actively used in an FF. FFX touched on Time Travel almost, FFIX almost had the main character go insane, but nothing exactly the same. My favorite of all these is the last one. Why is there never a Rikku or Selphie in the MC slot?

So allowing one reusage of each story with different plot twists and characters, FF is good til about FFXXX (sexy)

maybe a Final Fantasy CDXX... that kickass... lol

X-2 spoilers below....

Why is there never a Rikku or Selphie in the MC slot?

THey had originally planned to make a third story on Final Fantasy X, but Square has since given up on the topic. They even encoperated it in an optional scene of FFX-2 where Rikku was whining about wanting to be the star of an adventure with a 'hunky' guy and Yuna assured her it would be next time.

FFV had 2 and a half... I guess that what I was thinking falls more into the "Star Ocean" category.

Personally, it's getting somewhat out of hand with more than one planet. One simple question, why won't they just go and make a prequel to FFT? They are completely capable of doing so, they could simply base it off of the Lion War. The majority of the NPCs (not including Orlandu, Gafgarion, Agrias) would be part of the game, and obviously the younger generation would not-pretty much everyone that was more than 15 years younger than Balbanes (Ramza's father), or Orlandu. Agrias may or may not be in the game depending on what part of the war they focused on. Point is, a prequel to FFT would give people a reason to look back Square's way. It would be something different, and I personally feel that that's what some people want, for Square to work on something other than another "planet saving" game. And don't tell me that FFT was a "planet saving" game, cause it wasn't. The game only took place in Ivalice, and nothing took place in Ordalia-which by the way was the country to the east of Ivalice for those that either don't know or never really paid that much attention.

By the way, I know that FFXII is going to be based off of Ivalice, but I wouldn't hold my breath for many similarities between the two games. The races from XI and FFTA will be in FFXII, but I don't believe that there will be anymore similarities from any other FF game. I hope that FFXII does good, and is equally a very interesting and fun game to play, cause like i've said before, the last couple haven't been.
