Man pleads guilty to using cars for target practice

Sunday, May 16, 2004

A man has pleaded guilty to charges he and a teenager used moving vehicles for target practice, damaging at least three vehicles by firing a rifle from a bedroom window.

Timothy Lackey, 19, and a 15-year-old boy were arrested in February for allegedly firing a .22-caliber rifle at cars from Lackey's bedroom window in Clarks Mills, Mercer County.

State police said Lackey and the teen hit at least three vehicles with gunfire between Feb. 2 and Feb. 10.

No one was injured.

Lackey remains free on bond. He pleaded guilty last Monday to propulsion of a missile into a vehicle and reckless endangerment, both misdemeanors.

He could be sentenced to 2 1/2 to 5 years in prison if his sentences were run concurrently. The teenage boy, who was not identified, is facing charges in juvenile court.

I DO have a car...and not just anyone can get a gun, atleast here... gun laws are strict...NO concealed weapons, permit or not, round here...

But they were doing it from a window. That means they dont have to be concealed...

I think shooting birds would be cool...in fact, the only legal way to discharge a firearm in the city of phoenix is with the full on intent of slaughtering pidgeons...with a permit, that is...you get money for basically endagering ppls live via killing pidgeons...but cars? i know a few peeps that are dumb enough, to do it, and get caught too...

I was talking about gun control for idiots and morons. Responcible gun owners are just fine by me, its just the morons with guns that scare me.

yeah...but the only way to stop them from getting guns would be stoping alot of responcible gun owners aswell...lol

I'm more thinking about mandatory and periodic training as part of the requirements of gun ownership, kinda like getting and renewing your drivers liscence.

That actually sounds like a decent idea. =/

hmm..pritty much, you want it to be like how to get a license to carry a fire arm, or even training to have a concealed fire arm ..just to be able to have one?…that’s really not a bad idea…but it would start a lot of shiz… I mean.. that would mess things up when thinking that you have to have a gun registered, I for one have many guns that are not in my name.. With that I would have to pay for a license for them lol… but in all that would prolly do us a lot of good

I'm sure something to that effect will be brought up. Everyone tries, but no one succeeds. The warning labels on the games pretty much prevent anything from happening to rockstar and sony.

that's a good idea, but don't count on it happening. at least not anytime soon. things like that have to be slowly integrated.

I know the logistics of implementing a plan like that would be next to impossible but it would be better in the long run than just taking guns away like too many ppl want to do

taking guns away like too many ppl want to do

that's something else that I very seriously doubt will ever happen. the US has the largest civilian/firearm ratio out of any country on earth.

And really, it doesnt help the general public, since now they cant defend themselves. Criminals wont get guns the "legal" way, so now they'll ahve lots of guna, and the people they prey on dont.
