View Full Version : Possibilities...

Dr. No (owner of Gaming Chaos) has offered me the possibility of merging Evermore Forums with his site. Due to the TOGRC problem, all TOGRC boards that wish to survive would need to buy a domain, and a vB license. Also, this would mean being thrust out onto the net proper to compete with anything and everything out there.
If merged, people in power (from here, at least) would keep that power, so don't worry about being "laid off" because of it. Also, it would mean a larger forum with more active members. Since some of you go to both sites, it would make it easier on you.
This is by no means definite, however, but I would like to hear your input nonetheless.

Well, if we don't merge, it isnt like we wont exist anymore. I'll get my own vb license and stuff then, like i was planning on, as doc probly will as well. Its just that by merging, we increase out chances of suceeding, for not only will we get more traffic with our combined member bases, but we also wont be competing.

It would be nice and everything. Though, I came here to get away from Chaos. For those who are apart of both sites, can our posts from Evermore be added to our own posts at Chaos?
Either way we go, I'll stay by Evermore's side.

If we merged, people with accounts at both sites would have them merged, so you wouldnt lose anything.

If it means that you'll have to pay less for the forum, then go ahead.
But you should realize that people on this forum have grown to know others quite well. Mainly because the same old members posts all the time.
If it were to get merged with another forum, people would feel rather uneasy. And the discussions, etc might end up...less fun.

there are things that I like and that I don't like about it. as long as I keep my s-admin position I don't care.

Well, nothing is finalized yet, and we're still working bugs out of it, but i can assure you, no one here will be demoted or fired.

it would cause some confusion and it would take some getting use to..but if it'll save EF it's worth it....

Well things wont be the same as in we cant be liad back and just joke around like we always do but it would reduce cost and increases chances of making it as a forum
It is really a toss up that is all up to you
Lancet Jades

Well, it isnt a matter of "Saving" EF or not, if we dont merge, we'll still be affiliates. As for the laid-back feel of EF, i'll ensure the merger doesnt destroy that.
Doc and i wont go through the merger unless we're both 100% sure about thing,s and only if we agree 100% on everything.

I am reletively new to both EF and GC, and i like them both because of the similarities. on both forums, it is basically the same people that always post, so it was for me at least, very easy to get into things. I dont personally think there would be much of a problem.

i've never been to gaming chaos but doc seems like a reasonable fellow...the only thing i'd be concerned was if the rules suddenly got more restrictive and the laid back friendly atmosphere desolved..still if lancet and doc no can keep the essence of evermore intact i'm all for it even if i get bumped down a few ranks for overall number of posts.

I agree with that. I enjoy the atmosphere here, makes it really easy and fun to make constructive conversation. I've been to some forums that just seem dead compared to here.

Well, like i've said, i'd make sure doc doesnt ruin that atmosphere. All of these things are concerns of mine that i'll bring up w/ doc before any decision is made.
Whether we merge or not, either way has pros and cons. Its just a matter of what set of pros and cons we choose.

Well i can say for sure if we do i'll have decreased activity because of it. I left gc for a reason not because i simply wanted to.
I expect you'll think things through as always so dont even consider my point as its a selfish point.
None of you would have to worry about my administrating. I've been doing it for quite a long time, and I know what I'm doing (sometimes, everyone has flaws) :) My board is one of the longest running boards on TOGRC that pay. Not to mention that GC would help balance out a few interests here.
BTW, if we merged, Sean Connery would most likely get canned by me. Just saying :D Not to mention that you'll get a damn fine s-mod by the name of AZ-Tech.

yes..but see...just cause you might be good at what you do doesnt mean that we need you...our luff for lades and our members are great...not saying i dont like you, cause i do..but what we are talking about here is ALOT of change in not alot of time....there will be good and bad things about this..for both EF and GC...where im behind lades 100%..if this would mean to lose lots members from EF..im not really all that willing to do so...

Yeah doc. I help even out some of your weaknesses. We makes a good duo we does! lol
And, AZ-tech IS a damn fine person to have on staff. Although, my only potential problem with AZ is that he might ruin the more "relaxed" atmosphere of the forum. We both know how he is... :rolleyes
However, since TOGRC will apparently remain, i don't know if you want to go ahead with it doc.

if your not really trying too overthorow lades then why say so :hmm
Are you going to continue with this Johnny? It is an awful lot of expense, and I will continue to remain on TOGRC since my board is fine for the time being. I will convert to my own .com in the future, but for now, I will stick with the service that I am so accustomed to. I think it would be utterly ridiculous to put my members through that. Since there's no limit, we'll at least remain with TOGRC for several more months.
Lancet Jades
05-14-2004, 01:53 PM
Yeah, i'm still gonna move. Its gonna be expensive, but i'm going to do it sooner or later, so i might as well do it now, especially since i have the money (albeit barely).
Besides, doing so is the first step to Evermore becoming a truly great site.
Also, since the merger isnt gonna happen, this is closed.

I think the 3 of us (me, Johnny, Doc) should talk things over. I'd rather us have our own forums and just become affiliates instead of merging, but if merging turns out to have more pros than cons I'm for it.
