How much should a job pay in your opinion? I would say that in todays society that any job, unless its like fast food or cart psuhing should pay out like $30,000 a year gross. If you get that much you may actually be able to make a living. It would be hard still tho with todays society and the prices for everything seeming to go up. How much do you think any job or your ideal job pay each year?

pay should always be equal to the ammount of work you do and/or time/education it took to get you there.

...although it's not always like that.

I don't like to admit it because I'm lazy, but I have to agree. It should be and usually is equal to the amount of work you do/ the amount of time you put in.

Pay in a capitalist society always regulates itself......but there are times when the government must step in to regulate some things....

Raising pay is a double edged sword - as it could simply cause inflation, while also leading to regressed industry growth.

Personally, the job I plan to go into has a set pay of $36,000.
it's a teaching position in Japan though, so the fact that things are more expensive cancel much of it out.

One must factor other things though, like with my job there are many medical and other social benefits, along with a good system of bonuses given at yearly intervals which depend on performance. All depends on what's you can get.....and choosing a field is a big part of that...

LOL I freakin wish it was 8 bucks. That would totally raise my salary $5,000 probably. Salary should be based on the job and the requirements to do that job. Education and experience definately should play a factor. High risk jobs should offer more. Firefighters and police officers in NYC start at $36,000 after graduating from academy. Top pay after 5 years is $49,000, I think, but that's without overtime and stuff like that. Teachers deserve to make a lot more than they do now.

Yeah...but 4 some dollars as minimum isn't right....at least raise it by 4 dollars. Then everyone would be happy.

Um....minimum wage is like 5.75 I think. I've never worked minimum wage so not sure. Doubling minimum wage isn't going to work though. Then everyone else will have to double their salary or atleast get a considerable raise as well b/c it's only fair. And like Luther said, you have to consider inflation and all that stuff going up if minimum wage is raised. So pretty much in the end you'll be making the same amount.

minimum wage is 5.25 I think. and yeah... increasing minimum wage really won't fix the economic problems we've gotten ourselves into.

Think of what that would do to the prices at places paying minimum wage.

no it isn't... and I was a little off.

the national minimum wage is $5.15. some states like california have higher than federal minimum wages ($6.75) and some have lower than federal minimum wages ($4.25). Ohio and Kansas are the only ones like that. a few states have no minimum wage laws.
