I've always wondered why we do the things we do. In a way I wanted a reason why I got nervous for no reason or why I go from depressed to happy in things called "mood swings". I read a book that talked about how we as humans function. The key thing in the book was how we rely on senses and we are selective in what we pay attention to. For instance, if we felt everything our body did we might go insane. Things like: heart beating, lungs expanding, blood pumping. I can't remember it that much because it wasn't my book.

What if we functioned on a completely separate level. Like a subconcious level that picked up on someone else's subconcious. In a way, it's a form of telepathy. That's why you can sometimes sense a dangerous situation or have a preminition. It would be too complex to conciously do it so it's like a 6th 7th or 8th sense.

I leave it here for now. I'm still trying to make it more concrete.

well fairy there have been documented cases of telepathy and telekinesis. i do believe in psychic powers...those that have them proably use more parts of the brain.

Hi FoD! First off: OPINION

Now, I personally think that just like the heart beating and the lungs pumping, ALOT of things that we "think" are going on on a level so deep that we cannot even notice it. I do believe in telepathy to a certain degree (see my post in the do you believe in magic(k)? thread in Religion) and the 6th sense is a combination of "bad vibes" left in an area and the super-subconscience thought processing minute details that consciously we cannot even notice. As far as mood swings, stimuli and brain chemestry :D

I think that small ammounts of psychic power could be done by humans, but I don't think that the human mind has the power to do anything major. You'd probably destroy yourself if you did have an extreme version of telepathy or kinesis.

When I say telepathy or ESP I'm not talking anything major, I'm talking Minor little things that are barely noticeable, but done by mind power :wizard

:D 100th post :D

The average human only uses 10% of their brain power, imagine what the other 90% could do if focused and trained?!?!?! And no, sorry. :(

yeah, you could accomplish quite a bit.

I just recognized the avatar you have. Someone on Gamerhub used to have that avatar. I've only seen, including you, three people with that avvy.

if you used 100% of your brain it would end up like if you used 100% of the computer, it would shutdown from extreme useage.

Most things caused by the brain are caused by chemical reactions, at least thats what reserchers think since the 'message system' works in connection with emotions and feelings and things like that. Why we do them is simply because we have them i think, normally if you have things like emotions which make up us they are used when you enter a certain level of awareness and conscience. Im not sure really why people do things but i simply dont look for a reason unless one is given or i desire one, as some things are done just because they can be done and for no other reasons, perhaps this is a kind of reflex action which just triggers no matter what, perhaps it is a thought process which activates certain things, who knows really.

I'm not sure about that. If there have been documents that have proved telepathy I'm sure there would be a lot more people trying to do it, or writing about it or whatever. I'm also sure I would have heard of it before. And when it is said we only use 10% of our brain, it doesnt mean the other 90 is something new. Think about all those memories of your life. You dont use them, but they're there. What about everything you've forgotten. Maybe its there, being the other 90% that we dont use because its too minor, or because we dont know how.

And don't forget that there have been multiple cases where twins can "sense" each others emotions from miles away

gah, I hate home work, 40 pages in pschology keeps me busy.

Okay so my feeling is, that with all that complex work the brain might be doing it affects the body on a concious level, nervousness or excitement or sometime horny. Maybe the body or mind is trying to connect with someone or a group of people and at first if you are trying real hard you get real nervous because your mind is trying to connect really hard. It's a subconcious action based on concious thought that affects you physically. Maybe excitement can transfer from someone, like something that smells bad just smells bad, but when it comes to you, you are all cringy.

bah, I'm confusing myself with thoughts of naked women.

You're confusing more ppl than just yourself :dizzy but you're right, the brain works on multiple levels that interact with each other therefore causing the emotions and feelings you have.

When people use that tired old saying about only using 10% of our brains, they dont really know what that means. We only use on average 10% at any one time. humans use all of their brain, just not all at one time.

While to a degree you are correct, there is still a large portion of potential that is untapped.
