Ok both of these are rpgs that came out roughly at the same time. So without being biased which of these two great rpgs were better? Personally I got more into Legend of dragoon and often wondered why it sorta fizzled and died in the popularity department.

LoD was far better then FF7 in my opinion, i mean theres certain similarities between them but overall gameplay and speach was nice.

Yeah got into it with someone who tried to say lod was a rip off of ff7. Then again jaded fans said that about shadow hearts covenant too. Don't know why any turned based japanese rpg falls under the "ff clone" category especially if the storylines, characters, and core battle systems are so different. I thought lod was better and i felt more for the characters too especially dart and rose. I wish they'd make a lod 2 for the ps2 or ps3 but i doubt sony will take that risk.

according to some ppl every game in existance is a rip off of FF7, thats when you get a blunt object and attempt to drive their brain out their ear cuz they obvoiusly dont use it.

I would have to say LoD. Rose was a very interesting character to me and is my favorite in that game.

Yeah I had a crush on Rose back in the day....For awhile it seemed her and Dart would get together but then Dart reverted to pining away over the stereotypical good girl shauna again. At least it explained why rose was attracted to Dart...because she had been in love with his father too before his fall.

I never played LoD... I heard it was good but... arent you people underrating FF7 a little? I mean... the storyline is arguably the greatest in video game history, the characters were all amazing, there were infinite possibilities of what you could do with your characters what with materia and all, there are hundreds of hours of gameplay including the WEAPONS, and it had amazing minigames... Was LoD THAT great?

LoD was a good game. It had a really nice story and the game itself was quite nicely done. Touching and passionate! And so very action-packed...

...But FFVII...It'll always have a special place on my game shelf!

Ooh, toughie - I can't decide. Nope, they both are too good for me to choose.

Well I completed FF7, never completed LoD, hmm......its really a toss up for me, FF7 was my first PS1 game, I'm leaning that way.

Storyline was cliche and the only diff between FF7 and other games was the character base. 'Big corporation, wants to expand, buncha good guys resist, they fight, end of game' Inherently thats the storyline. Whereas LoD's storyline as much as it was based in the present involved an actual depth and religious backing and storyline. Effectivly each person has their own story whereas in FF7 you just had 1 base story and minmal character backing outside of Cloud, Tifa and Sephy.

Ive also played much better mingames then those in FF7, and LoD also did have minigames and roughly the same number of them. They had a diff and at the time unique battle system other then the atb, the fmvs were far superior in quality and story aspects and while ff7 did have a full world map the towns in LoD were also better layed out and executed.

Characters wernt also as clear cut which left certain things that could be explored and led to the plot thickening.

I have played, beaten and own both of them, LoD is a better game for me as far as an rpg goes.

FF7 is one of my favorite games actually. I just liked lod alot more just as a prefer shadow hearts covenant and star ocean 3 over ffx and ffx-2.
